Field Construction Update
The grass on the fields at the CSA soccer complex is growing nicely.  There are even a few areas on the playing surface that could be playable now.  The key is to get the entire area to a consistent fullness, thickness and coverage.    If you have ever reseeded your lawn or watched a neighbor’s lawn you know that there are patches that look great and others that are thin or bare.  An advantage that the CSA complex has over most local lawns is our irrigation system.  The sprinklers are programmed to water the playing surface in sequence over a couple of hours for maximum efficiency.  The irrigation system also includes a monitor that detects rain and skips a watering if sufficient rain has fallen. Capital and Endowment Campaign Update
In our last update we reported that two grant requests had been submitted.  One foundation has notified us that they were impressed with our program but unable to provide a grant at this time.  The other grant request is still under consideration.  The final portion of our $30,000 grant from Adidas has been received. Just like most of us, the economy has not been kind to the investments that fund the foundations.  As the economy turns around our grant prospects may also improve.  We have been recently approached by two companies that are interested in being sponsors for the club in some way.  They see all of our active young players and involved volunteers as a wonderful organization with which to associate their brands.  More news on these sponsorships as they develop. Special thanks to the Concord Mall Chick-Fil-A which sponsored activities for the final day of the Soccer Development Program. Some companies will be participating in the United Way campaign soon; please think of Concord Soccer when making your pledge.  CSA is United Way affiliate #9448.  Others have employers who match their volunteer hours or cash contribution with a cash contribution to CSA’s capital campaign.  Please do what you can to help us finish the project.  The primary things left to fund are all of the ancillary items that are required by New Castle County to open the fields for play.  These items include some portable goals, landscaping (even though more than six acres of grass will be growing at our complex), and a paved, curbed and lighted parking lot.   .
