Welcome to the Concord Soccer Representative Soccer Tryout Information page.  We hope this information will help you choose to tryout for Concord Soccer!

TRYING OUT FOR AN EXISTING REPRESENTATIVE TEAM

Concord Soccer offers rolling tryouts during the course of a season, meaning that a player can be invited into an existing team’s training session to be evaluated. IF YOU ARE NOT CURRENTLY ON A CONCORD REPRESENTATIVE TEAM, YOU WILL BE EVALUATED TO PLAY FOR A TEAM COMPRISED OF PLAYERS BORN IN YOUR SAME BIRTH YEAR.

Players will be considered for the upcoming soccer season, which runs from August 2020 to May or June 2021.
Players can be considered to join a team this spring if roster spots are open.

Process

To be eligible to try out for a team, all players (existing and new) must register for tryouts.  Tryout registration opens on February 26.  There is no charge to register for tryouts for an existing team.  If a player is new to Concord Soccer, they will first need to create a user account at www.concordsoccer.com before registering for tryouts.

Once you receive your confirmation email from tryout registration, please forward it by email to the head coach of the team in which your player is interested.  Coach biographies and contact information can be found at www.concordsoccer.com under Programs and Representative Program.

Coaches are able to notify all players, either returning or newcomers, for the upcoming year, beginning March 1.  Once the coach notifies a player and his/her family of their interest in having them join the team, the process for facilitating the mutual acceptance is as follows:

  1. Coach notifies verbally (in person or via telephone) of their invitation for the player to join the team.

  2. An acceptance email will be generated, which will officially invite you to join the team.  To accept, families are required to pay the appropriate acceptance installment to confirm their commitment.  Families are required to complete this process within 3 calendar days of the acceptance email being generated in order to maintain their roster spot invitation.

For more information about Concord's Representative Team program, please consult the Representative Team Guidelines, which can be found on the website under Programs and Representative Teams.

TRYING OUT FOR A NEW REPRESENTATIVE TEAM

New teams are formed in the Under-9 age group each year.  In preparation for the 2020-2021 soccer season, tryouts will be held for the 2012 birth year, as we look to form new teams, for both boys and girls.  Players born in 2012 and 2013 are eligible to tryout for these teams.  Tryouts for these age groups will be held on the following dates and times, at the Concord Soccer Complex at 2503 Naamans Road, Wilmington, Delaware:

Below you will find the most frequently asked questions from those looking to play Representative Team soccer for the first time.

Frequently Asked Questions

The following are the most commonly asked questions regarding the tryout process and the formation of our representative teams.  The questions and answers below are not meant to be all-encompassing and if you are interested in our complete policies, procedures, and guidelines for our representative team program, please refer to the Representative Program Guidelines, which is available to you once you log into your account in our system.

Is there a Fee for Tryouts?

There is a $25 fee to tryout for a representative team that is newly forming and that fee is collected during online registration.

How should I register for the tryouts?

Online pre-registration is required for the tryouts.  Families should log into their online account on www.concordsoccer.com and select the appropriate age group for tryouts.  Online registration will is now available. If you do not have an account, you can create one at no cost and move forward from there.

How will my child be notified if he is selected and how do we accept the position on the team?

Following the second tryout, players will be notified via telephone call that they have been selected.  Following that conversation, an email invitation will be sent to the address you submitted when you registered.  You will have 48 hours to accept the position on the team and submit your acceptance fee.  If, after this time period you do not accept the position on the team, the position on the team will be offered to another player.

What if we can only attend one of the tryouts?

While we always encourage interested players to attend both scheduled tryouts to have the maximum amount of opportunities for evaluation, players are only required to attend one tryout to be considered.

What if there is questionable weather on the day of the scheduled tryouts?

Any changes or postponement will be posted by no later than 5pm on the day of the scheduled tryout on www.concordsoccer.com.  If a tryout is postponed on a particular day, the noted rain date will be utilized as the second tryout.

How many players make the teams?

For new U9 teams, the maximum roster size is 12 players.  If the total number of players warrants the formation of two teams, two teams may be formed.

How will my child be evaluated during the tryouts?

Players are issued a numbered identification vest at check-in and the coaches and evaluators identify players by their numbers.  Players are assessed while playing small-sided and full-sided games during the tryouts – it is our belief that the best way to evaluate if a player is at the level of a representative team is to allow them to play and evaluate them accordingly.

When does the season start?

The team typically will start training in August.  We typically hold a meeting for parents of new players in July, and uniforms will be need to be ordered before then.
