Phase 2 Training

Our priority remains on the safety of the players.  We want to stress that any families who are not comfortable with their players training in the near future, should not have them attend.  Training at this stage is completely voluntary, although parents should communicate with coaches to let them know if players will not be attending.

In returning to training, we will be implementing the following safety measures through Phase 2 of our return to play and until we receive additional instructions from Delaware’s Governor and the Delaware Youth Soccer Association (DYSA):

  • All training sessions will be held at the Concord Soccer Complex, not elsewhere.
  • If a player has a fever, is sick, or displays any symptoms related to COVID-19, they should be kept home and not attend an onsite training session.
  • Upon arrival to the fields, players must remain in vehicles with their parents. Players will be permitted to exit cars and report to their practice field only when their coach has arrived.Coaches will signal for the players to start moving to their respective fields.
  • Parents are encouraged to drop off their players and to leave the premises. For those who choose to remain at the Complex:
    • They may remain in their vehicle, with windows up or down. Children who are not players should not exit the vehicle.
    • Parents may use the path circling the complex provided they are wearing a mask.
    • They may watch from the rocks, but must maintain social distancing at all times and stay off the playing surface.
    • As stated in our Representative Team Guidelines, “Parents and friends should keep off the designated practice area, including the goalmouths.”This has historically not been a problem, but a good time to remind everyone of this requirement.
  • Coaches will be required to wear face masks at all times when less than 6 feet from players or parents and to perform the following actions prior to the start of training:
    • Record attendance of all players present during training that day.
    • Ask each player and record response to the following two questions before the start of the session:
      • Have you been exposed to anyone who has been confirmed COVID-19 positive since the previous practice?
      • Are you currently experiencing a fever, cough, difficulty breathing, loss of taste or any other COVID-19-specific symptoms?
    • If any player answers yes to either question, the player will sent home immediately. The club will be required to notify DYSA, and any decisions regarding return to play will be made after consultation with DYSA.
    • Attendance and question responses will be logged by team coaches in a CSA database that can be provided to DYSA.
  • Players should remain six feet from each other at all times except during training sessions.
  • Players should bring a ball, but should not touch any equipment (e.g., cones, goals).
  • Entire teams may train together, but two teams may not scrimmage with each other.  No heading or body checking.
  • Goalkeepers must wear gloves and not share them.  Players who are given pinnies to wear may not share them.
  • Players must bring and not share or splash their water bottles.
  • Each player’s items brought to training must be kept at least six feet apart from each other (preventing players from bunching up during training breaks).
  • Players will not be required to wear masks, but can wear any PPE that they so choose to wear.
  • The club will provide access to hand sanitizer for each team during training sessions.
  • After training, players should wash their hands thoroughly and change clothes.

Any parent or player who fails to comply with the above requirements may be asked to exit the training sessions.

These procedures are subject to further review by the club and further instructions from DYSA, with an emphasis that, at all times, safety for our players and families is our first priority.
