Parents Respect Our Facility-Springer Middle School - Snack is not provided. No gum or food is allowed in the Springer Gym. All parents and players are to remain at/in the gym and adjacent bathroom area during their session, no one is allowed in the school outside of the gym area. Do not move the bleachers or adjust the position of the bleachers in anyway. We are guests, please ensure we respect the property.
Coaches Please review and incorporate the following guidelines into your weekly routine at Springer:
Be sure you have the roster list available on the first 2-3 Saturday mornings. Parents often show up and need assistance to determine where they should be.
The first gym you enter is GYM1. The far gym is gym 2.
Have a 10 minute warm-up before game. It's important to get muscles warm and loose, passing and shooting games work well, and cones will be available for dribbling games. Reference the concord soccer website, under resources for coaches, for fun activities to try each week.
Jerseys - all players are to wear a red shirt. One team will be given yellow pinnies. The pinnies are to be returned at the end of the game.
For levels that do not have set teams, teams are to be drawn-up by the two coaches on game day based on who is there. Suggestion is to have the kids line up on a line and call out 1 and then 2 and then 1 and then 2 until all have called out a number. Then have the 1s and 2s get together. Then balance out the teams based on ensuring an equal number of girls, as best as possible, on the two teams.
For drawn up teams, some team and player adjustments may be required on the quarter and/or half to keep it fun and balanced, don't be afraid to try something new if necessary. (i.e. playing a "man down" is also an option if score gets out of hand).
Teams should have 5 players on the floor, use the mats hung on the wall as goals without goalies.
Substitute often to keep all players involved and fresh - indoor soccer is a fast paced game! --UNLIMITED SUBSITUTIONS--
For Kiddie Kickers and U8's, use 4 - 10 minute quarters
For U10 and up, use 2 - 20 minute halfs
END on time. We are on a tight schedule, and games must end on time. Games that start late will be shortened so that they end on time to make ready for the next group.
Allow a few minutes at the end of your session for a fun cool down
Remember to do a "Clean Sweep" of your area after your game so that you leave it cleaner than you found it
