| Boys & Girls Representive Team News |
Concord Soccer has 18 Representative Teams participating in league play this fall. 10 boys teams playing in the Delco League include the U9 Concord 99, U10 Thunder, U11 Cosmos, U12 Revolution, U12 Athletico, U13 Nitro, U13 Dynamo, U14 Chaos, U14 Rockets and U16 Crush. 8 girls teams playing in Philadelphia Area Girls Soccer include the U9 Soccer Sisters, U10 Fusion, U11 Avalanche, U12 Ridgebacks, U13 United White, U14 Magic, U14 Fury and the U18 Courage.
These teams are enjoying their fall seasons. Many of our teams are working with professional trainers, to develop the players to the fullest extent possible. The Concord Soccer Representative Program is, first and foremost, a program that emphasizes the training aspect of the sport. Success on the field is measured by the growth of the players, not simply by wins and losses. We welcome ‘winning,’ when it’s a by-product of appropriate training.

The
Concord U9 Girls Soccer Sisters participated in the Delco Soccer

11th and 12th. After much hard work and team effort, they proved to be
victorious. The Soccer Sisters won four games and went home with proud
smiles and a first place trophy. The team is coached by Ed Judge and
Bryan Seningen. A special thanks also goes to Steve Kendus for his
assistance.

U10 Girls Concord Fusion
The U10 Girls Concord Fusion
is having a great fall season, to date. The team has jumped out to a 5-1 league
record, due to great goalkeeping, tenacious defensive play and focused goal
scoring. The team also participated in the Delco Columbus Day Tournament.
Although the team was without three of its core players, they reached the
semi-final round, only losing to eventual champion, the Radnor Rumble. The team
was happy with this outcome, as they played in the top U10 girls bracket of the
tournament. Great job, Fusion!

U12 Boys Revolution
The U12 Boys Revolution won their division of the Whitewater Cup Classic tournament in Wilkes-Barre, PA over Columbus Day weekend. The team played strongly all weekend, allowing just two goals and scoring 10.
The Revolution team also won their bracket of the TBAA Pre-Season Tournament, held back in August. The bracket play culminated in an exciting final match with the Washington Township Dragons. The 2-2 battle was broken in the last minutes of the game, with an awesome outside shot by Kevin Williams, to put the Revolution on top. This was a particularly satisfying result, as the team played the final with only 11 players, who all had to play 100% of the game. Way to go, guys!

U13 Boys Dynamo
The U13 Boys Dynamo
team continued to embrace the “Be Positive (B+) Live Like Andrew
(McDonough)” philosophy that the team has readily adopted. While
remaining positive throughout the 2008 DELCO Columbus Day Tournament
and “living like Andrew,” the CSA Dynamo went 3-0-1 to become the 2008
U13 Boys Division DELCO Tournament Champions. The CSA Dynamo played to
a 0-0 tie in their first game and won 3-0 in their second game to
advance to the semi-final playoff game. In the semi-final, after
trailing 1-0 and being tied 3-3 in the beginning of the second half,
the Dynamo “played like Andrew (McDonough)” and scored three unanswered
goals to win 6-3. This win had the Dynamo advance to the Championship
game against the King of Prussia Liverpool team. In the first half, the
Dynamo scored to make it 1-0. The Dynamo then shut down the King of
Prussia team to secure the 1-0 victory and the 2008 DELCO Columbus Day
Tournament U13 Boys Division Championship!
During this patch
exchange tournament, the CSA Dynamo continued to spread the “B+ Live
Like Andrew” message by exchanging “B+ Live Like Andrew” wrist bands
and cards along with their CSA patches. The Dynamo continued to wear
their B+ shirts when not playing their games in the tournament. The
team cheer “LET’S GO DY-NA-MO!! LIVE LIKE ANDREW!!” could be heard
multiple times, as it echoed across the soccer fields before, during
and after the CSA Dynamo team became the tournament champions!

U19 Girls Courage
The U19 Girls Courage team recently started its second year of existence with August practices to prepare for a Labor Day tournament in Philadelphia, where they played against other competitive women's teams. Following the tournament, the Courage began its regular season games at the PAGS Premier level. The jump to the Premier level has allowed the Courage to play the best teams in the region and to improve their play. To date, the team has played five very competitive teams and has a record of 1-3-1 following several very close games. The Courage plan to play in a total of four tournaments this year, to give the girls an opportunity to be more visible in the soccer community. They had the opportunity to play in the Frederick Cup at Kirkwood Soccer over Columbus Day Weekend, and finished near the top of their bracket, with a record of 1-1-1. The Courage is looking forward to playing in two additional tournaments in November, the first in Fort Dix, New Jersey and the second at the Kirkwood Soccer Club.
Based on its results in the 2007/2008 competitive year, the Courage also recently learned that they are ranked 2nd in the State of Delaware in the U18 age group. They are also ranked 44th in Region 1, which is comprised of hundreds of teams in 13 surrounding states. This is an amazing accomplishment for the girls, given that the team achieved this ranking in its first year of existence, and with relatively little practice, since the Courage was created to provide girls with an opportunity to play competitive soccer, without the substantial time commitment often required by travel teams. Nearly every girl on the Courage is a strong student with multiple other activities and interests, including other sports and school activities such as varsity high school soccer, field hockey, cross country, track, band, and dance. Congratulations girls!
